This article describes how to enable 2-Step Verification on your Google account.

Information

  1. Log into your Saint Peter’s Google account.
  2. Once confirmed you are logged in with your Saint Peter’s Google account, open a new tab on your web browser and navigate to https://myaccount.google.com/security 
  3. On the Security page, scroll till you see the “Signing in to Google” section.

     
  4. Under “2-Step Verification” click on the arrow symbol “>”


Note* 

  • To use the Google Authenticator app on your phone, skip to “Enable 2-Step Verification using Google Authenticator”.
  • If 2-Step Verification is already On, discontinue the remaining instructions.
  1. On the 2-Step Verification page, click on the ‘Get Started’ button.
  1. On the next 2-Step Verification page, click “Continue” to receive Google security prompts on your mobile device,
    or click on ‘More Options’ and choose Text Message or Voice call.
    • Note* – Security Keys are not supported at this time. 
  1. If you chose ‘Text Message or Voice call’ as the verification method, proceed to Step 6.
    Otherwise, once you click ‘Continue’, you will be prompted to accept the Google security prompt on your mobile device. After accepting the security prompt, move to step 8.
     
  2. After entering your Saint Peters credentials, you will be able to enter a phone number, and choose between Text or Voice Call to receive your security code. Afterwards, click “Next”.

     
  3. Your device will receive a security code base on the method you selected. Enter the code and click ‘Next’.


Enable 2-Step Verification using Google Authenticator


Note* You will need the “Google Authenticator App” already downloaded
from the Google PlayStore or IOS AppStore to follow these instructions.

  1. Go to https://myaccount.google.com/security
  2. Under the “Add more second steps to verify it’s you” section, 
  3. Click “Setup Up” under “Authenticator app,”

     
  4. Select your device and click “Next”

     
  5. Follow the instructions under “Set Up Authenticator” and scan the barcode underneath with the Google Authenticator App and click “Next”.​​​​​​

     
  6. Enter the 6-digit verification code when prompted and click “Verify”.

     
  7. Once you have confirmed the 2-Step Verification, you can confirm to turn on 2-Step Verification. Then you are finished.
